Statement Analysis of George Anthony About River Cruz

Question:  Did George Anthony lie under oath at the murder trial of his daughter, Casey?

Statement Analysis is in bold type.  Quotes are in italics with emphasis added for analysis.

Baez asked who River Cruz was, to George:

"just someone who volunteered at our sites, considered her a friend."

Note that we do not know how River Cruz considered George.  Note that he called her friend but later attempted to disparage River Cruz by telling the jury that she had a past, was arrested and was not a good person.  This was interrupted.  It is noted, however, of George's need to disparage the woman who made the claim.  Note that George dropped the pronoun.  Dropped pronouns appear when the subject wishes to remove himself from the answer.

Question:   Did you have a romantic relationship with her?

George Anthony:  No, no sir.  No.  To me that is something that is very funny"

Sensitivity indicators, including repetition of "no" and the additional information regarding that which is "funny" to him, which is outside the scope of the answer.  It is not just "funny" but it is "very funny"

George Anthony here denies "romantic relationship" with an answer containing indicators of sensitivity.  It would need to be explored what he considered the relationship to be.

George likely knew that to him, it is funny, but to her, this denial would not be funny.

Baez:     were you intimate with her?
Anthony:    no sir that is also very funny

Note that the answer should be considered the same as the above, due to the repetition.  Both are not only "funny" but "very funny"

Question:   did you ever borrow money from her?
Answer:    no sir  I never borrowed any money from her

Note that George reflected back the words which include "borrow" and not that he took money from her as a donation.   A reflected answer is not the same as the subject's free editing and is not, within itself, reliable.  The follow up question (by cross) should have been if he had taken, or received money from River Cruz, Crystal Holloway.

George Anthony offered:

I never had a romantic affair with Crystal Holloway

This is not to say that he did not have sexual relations with her, only that he did not consider it te relationship to be "romantic".  This should be considered truthful:  that George did not consider his relationship with her to be "romantic" but would have needed follow up questions to learn how he qualifies this relationship.

Question:  Did you ever tell her that this was an accident that snowballed out of control?

George Anthony:    "never did" drops the pronoun.  It is not reliable.

George described himself as a "good guy" not "good person"

Given the sensitivity indicators, George Anthony's answers should be deemed "unreliable" and that it is likely that he had an inappropriate relationship with River Cruz and took money from her.  He does not consider the relationship to be "romantic" and he only denied borrowing money from her not taking money as a donation.

Note always when anyone refers to themselves as "good"; it is often a psychological indicator of guilt.  We have heard "I am a wonderful mother" for example, from Bilie Dunn after failing a polygraph and having a dangerous man in her home.  The need to boast is often a mask for guilt. Although this is outside the realm of strict analysis, the comprehensive picture should be noted.  For more detail see drlillianglass.com  website as she analyzes George Anthony's body language and concludes with us:

George Anthony was deceptive on the witness stand.
