The University Of Tennessee's decision to fire Bruce Pearl is too little, too late. They should have canned his ass a long time ago. But the school stuck with him through his suspension for violations.
How did he repay them? By committing more violations. What does UT do? They fire him, but they also let him keep his $950K salary. This is a public institution. Letting a dishonest character collect an exorbitant money to not work is a slap in the face to every American. None of us can f up our jobs and our companies and lie and cheat and draw damn near a million dollars in the aftermath. What makes Bruce Pearl so special?
By the way, this decision by UT just shows how cancerous the money is in college sports. If coaches are going to be overpaid and paid excessively even in the wake of cheating then there is no reason to believe that players are not also receiving undue benefits on a mass scale in college sports.
Also, we see that schools like ATITPC only are firing Pearl in the hopes of lessening sanctions. It is not even a matter of ethtics or they would have fired him in the first place. This is a disgusting common occurrence in college sports.
Notre Dame Values Football More Than Life

Notre Dame football 'star,' Michael Floyd, was indefinitely suspended from the football team for drunk driving. His blood alcohol level of .19 was more than double the legal limit of .08.
Do we or do we not believe that drunken driving can kill people? If we do, then 'indefinite suspensions,' which can end any time, are not enough. This is a slap in the face to the kids that are making right choices and to victims of drunk driving.
This incident alone should warrant kicking him off the football team. As it stands, it is his third alcohol related incident since 2009 though.
And if you want a final slap in the face, Notre Dame released a statement from the kid that Shots Heard is not going to even bother to post (check the article). If a kid wants to show real contrition and do things the right way and address questions from the media and state his corrective process then fine. But we do not want bureaucratic white wash from Notre Dame.
In dishonor of this event(s), Notre Dame is also being renamed. It will now be known as The School That Panders To Drunk Driving Athletes.
